“Life just have one direction: a line that goes from birth to death. The rest is embroidery.”

“Line” is a full CG student short film we created for our master thesis graduation
in “Arts et Technologies de l’Image”, at university Paris 8.

We did not try to create 3D human characters, so the foot (at 00:46) is the only live action element of our short film. Our goal was to suggest human presences through offscreen and sound design work.

We could say that 99% of the film is computer graphic made. We primarily used Maya and Fusion. We wanted to do in CG both hyper-realistic elements (sets / props) and other more graphic / poetry (the black characters)

Our friends at Amsterdam Worldwide asked Mischa to direct an atmospheric spot for the latest Asics running shoe, set to launch this Spring. Set in that magic hour, just before sunrise, the film captures an unexpected moment in the shoe’s existence. Filmed by us on location at the Amsterdamse bos, we then performed some CG trickery back at PostPanic.

Our idea was basically to take the sound of compressed air, normally associated with air tools, multiply the sound and finally create a syncronized rythm which became our storyteller.
