“External Film Inspiration“ is a serial of short films, trailers, motion graphics and music clips by different artists from across the world introduced here at Cromoart. We would like to inspire you give ideas and suggestions. This time with films by Falco Seliger, PlusOne, Ivan Villafuerte, media73_TV, Brandon Eckhardt, yasuhiro kobari and Ryan Kothe.
A sneak peak of our blue mountains project. The footage has been shot within one day around various locations in the Blue Mountains (NSW, Australia). The reason for us to do this was to put the 5DMK2 in a doc environment and see what it’s like.
We also used the Kessler 3ft CineSlider with a Miller Solo DS-10 Tripod. Thanks to “porcelain dog”!

The city district Amsterdam Osdorp recently merged with Slotervaart and Geuzenveld-Slotermeer and was given the name Amsterdam Nieuw-West. This change also meant the end of 20 years of restructuring urbanized areas. To celebrate everything achieved, a book was published. ‘The Metamorphosis of Osdorp’ gives an overview of the architectural highlights. We were asked to create an intriguing video, featuring the buildings we find most characteristic.
Restructuring urbanized areas isn’t all about aesthetics. That is why we chose to put emphasis on the architects and especially it’s inhabitants and the surrounding of the buildings. To achieve this, we decided to combine live action video with 2D- and 3D-animation. Herewith we were able to complement reality with our interpretation of the most important factors of restructuring urbanized areas.

A little background :
Initially I set out to film some beautiful scenic images from the location you see in the video, and this was what I originally shot. However as I was walking away from the location I saw an image of the mountain on fire.
It was from that initial image that the edit developed it’s self. I have always had quite a dark outlook from my personal films and I think this is reflected well in this concept.
The actual film is an art board for a film I intend to push forward, I need a good script writer to help me develop the narrative and tie it together, is this you?
I shot this on my own with a monopod and by resting the camera on my back pack. I looked through the viewfinder and used a coke can for focus reference, you can see on one of the shots the focus is out. All filming, editing, effects work and soundscapes were created by me, barring the odd effect from heqc.
Any questions please get in touch, as I mentioned I am looking for a script writer or additional help in the Yorkshire area, wanna get involved? buzz me.
